My son, Jake, passed away suddenly during football practice on September 25, 2013 from an undetected heart condition, Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD). ARVD is a disease that attacks the heart and cannot be diagnosed without proper screening and/or testing. Jake was a strong and healthy high school junior who participated in both the football and lacrosse programs and never showed any signs or symptoms of having a heart condition. This is why it is so important that we spread this awareness to help save precious lives.

Kindness Campaign: Pass it on, America.

“Christin Keirn and my students started the Kindness Campaign one day in our school. We treated lunch ladies to home baked cookies, gave janitors donuts, make goody bags for secretaries, and showered our favorite teachers with compliments. We do not want it to end with us. We want schools across America to catch the kindness bug and give back to others. Big or small, each act of kindness changes those who re-ceive it. Pass it on, and start giving! Thanks to Sleeping at Last for hopefully letting us use their song 'Next to You.' It is the perfect song for us.

“Jake was our Kindness Campaign leader. He was in the class that started it all, and he was the one who was the biggest champion of what we were trying to accomplish. It is because of this that I am going to do everything I can to get our entire school behind what Jake started. I dont want it to be something we do for just a week or a month. I want these kids to live just like their friend did every single day. I want this community to follow suit.”
